Wheel-thrown stoneware pottery, handmade in the Cotswolds.

My name is Joseph Fuller, and I make wheel-thrown stoneware pottery, following a philosophy that values well-made and honest functional wares. I love making pots to be used every day, alongside statement pieces like bottle vases and large dishes. After studying Fine Art in Oxford, I worked at Dove St Pottery before taking an apprenticeship at Winchcombe Pottery, supported by Lisa Hammond’s Adopt-a-Potter charity, where I became a full-time potter for 6 years.

I now make my own pots in a small workshop at home in Winchcombe, Gloucestershire, aspiring towards beautiful, skilfully made, functional pottery. I am particularly drawn to the quiet, subtle effects of layers of ash glazes over handles, edges, ridges and marks in the body of the pot, over and above any elaborate decoration. My work combines a sensibility for colour and detail with traditionally learnt skills and a respect for tradition.
